We read the story "Mole and the Baby Bird" about a mole who finds a baby bird and struggles with wanting to keep it as a pet and letting it go into its natural habitat. Mole's granddad helps him see the situation from the baby bird's point of view. The children were very focused using summary cards from the story to write about and illustrate their favorite part of the story. We had a tender discussion about how emotions affect our actions.
